Lompa is an innovative multi-vendor marketplace that merges e-commerce with social media, allowing users to buy and sell products through short-form videos. Available on Android and iOS, Lompa delivers an engaging, mobile-first shopping experience designed to appeal to Brazil’s growing base of social-savvy consumers.

Challenges

Lompa, despite having a solid concept, struggled with core functionality issues that slowed user growth. The absence of in-app seller onboarding and reliance on desktop-based product listing created friction for sellers, resulting in high entry barriers that reduced platform engagement. The integration with Correios, Brazil’s local logistics provider, proved difficult due to outdated and unclear Portuguese documentation. Even after some initial progress, unexpected API changes disrupted essential features like shipping, label generation, and returns, later traced back to the deprecation of their old API. Similarly, integrating with Pagar.me, the local payment gateway, posed major challenges. The sandbox API failed unexpectedly, and poor documentation made troubleshooting difficult. These setbacks impacted payment reliability and caused significant delays in launching critical monetization features.

Solutions

To ensure timely deployment, we skipped debugging test APIs and integrated directly with Pagar.me’s live production APIs. Despite facing unclear documentation, we successfully enabled seamless payments, showcasing our ability to make strategic decisions and navigate technical challenges. To enhance Lompa’s value as a social commerce app, we introduced intuitive features: a simplified 2-step seller onboarding process, direct mobile video uploads, and interactive product listings. Users can discover products through short, scrollable videos and shop with built-in CTAs. Real-time chat enables direct buyer-seller communication, while PIX integration ensures secure payments in Brazil. We also added a live selling feature, allowing sellers to engage audiences and boost product visibility, turning Lompa into a dynamic, inclusive marketplace experience.
